GCC Specification Checklist
“GCC specification” is often used as a sales label, but a buyer still needs evidence about the exact vehicle. This checklist does not certify origin or specification; it helps organise questions that should be resolved through documents, authorised records and qualified inspection.

Start with identity, not the advertisement
Record the VIN, make, model, model year, trim and current registration details. Compare these identifiers across the physical vehicle, registration records, service documents and any authorised history result.
A badge, infotainment language, speedometer unit or seller statement cannot independently establish the vehicle’s market origin or full specification.

Request evidence for the specification claim
Ask the seller what documentary evidence supports the GCC claim and whether the vehicle was originally supplied through a regional authorised channel. Verify rather than infer.
If evidence is incomplete, record the answer as unknown. Unknown does not automatically mean unsuitable, but it should affect inspection depth, insurance enquiries, parts planning and price negotiation.

Inspect cooling and climate performance
Test engine cooling and air-conditioning after the vehicle reaches operating temperature and under realistic load. Review any history of overheating, cooling-system repair or warning lights.
A short stationary demonstration is not equivalent to a diagnostic inspection and road test. Ask a qualified inspector to evaluate leaks, fan operation, temperatures and fault codes where appropriate.

Investigate accident and repair history
Imported vehicles may have auction, salvage or repair histories that require deeper review. Inspect chassis structure, airbags, restraint systems, paint depth, panel alignment and electronic faults.
Do not describe a car as accident-free solely because an informal visual check found no obvious damage. Use available authorised history channels and independent physical inspection together.

Confirm insurance, parts and service support
Ask insurers to quote the exact VIN and disclose the vehicle’s origin accurately. Confirm whether parts, diagnostics, software updates, recalls and specialist repair knowledge are reasonably available.
These questions affect downtime and ownership cost even when the vehicle passes registration inspection.

Make a documented decision
Classify each important issue as confirmed, not confirmed or contradicted. Do not turn uncertainty into a positive claim.
